All Information about JEE Main Exam : Syllabus, Exam dates, Previous Year Papers, Cutoffs and Result

JEE-Main), formerly All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), is an examination organized by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in India. Introduced in the year 2002 and renamed in April 2017, this national level competitive test is for admission to various undergraduate engineering and architecture courses in institutes accepting the JEE-Main score, mainly National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs) and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs).

Until 2018, JEE-Main was on the first week of April by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). It was held both on paper and electronically. From 2019 it is conducted by the NTA, twice a year, and online only. 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  • It is mandatory for all students appearing for JEE Main that they must have pursued at least 5 subjects with Physics and Maths as their core subjects in their qualifying examinations. Students who have studied less than 5 subjects in their qualifying exam are not eligible for JEE Main. Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Language and one more subject of choice is required as eligibility for JEE Main.
  • The students can avail a maximum of three consecutive attempts for JEE Main the first attempt is taken soon after 12th board exams followed by the other attempts in consecutive years. The exam will be held twice a year so total attempts a candidate can appear for are six.
  • Candidate must have passed the 12th class exam or another equivalent qualifying exam.
  • Age limit 25 years and relaxation for reserved categories as per govt. rules.
